ARTbeat is two programs in one.
It features a core strengthening exercise program for parents/caregivers while their children
with disabilities participate in facilitated, therapeutic art projects.
Caring for a child with disabilities is physically demanding, especially to a caregiver’s back and spine. By developing a stronger core, you could help prevent back injuries. The benefits of strengthening your core come from working your anterior and posterior muscles that hold your spine erect.
Your posture will be improved and you will have greater stability when lifting, carrying, changing body positions or performing other tasks related to the care of your child.
INSTRUCTOR MONTE JONHSON
Mr. Johnson, owner of Creative Bodies, Inc., is a Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist with extensive experience in creating exercise and rehabilitation programs that improve
fitness, increase stamina, decrease muscular imbalances and reduce chances of injury.
Art is much more than a fun way to keep children entertained. Art activities can give children
with disabilities a chance to express themselves through a nonverbal medium and gain confidence along the way. Each art activity will have a therapeutic component geared towards stimulating
your child’s senses.
Each art project has been developed in partnership with occupational therapists from
The Pediatric Development Center.
